Law360 (July 6, 2021, 5:06 PM EDT) — The U.S. Treasury Department’s financial crimes bureau announced Tuesday it has hired a longtime government digital assets specialist, who most recently held a top role counseling the U.S. Department of Justice on crypto-related prosecutions, as its first ever chief digital currency adviser.
Michele Korver, former digital currency counsel for the DOJ’s Criminal Division, will report to Financial Crimes Enforcement Network’s director and work with internal and external parties to “prevent and mitigate illicit financial practices and exploitation,” the bureau said.
